Deep and intense ruby red; Clean nose, with hints of blackberry and licorice.; Rounded and concentrated in mouth, with great vitality, yet elegant and harmonious, thanks to the particularly sweet tannins; very long finish.

Since 1990 Poggio Antico`s wines have been rated by Wine Spectator 5 times within the "Top 100 Wines of the Year". Its Brunello1985 achieved the 4th place on the list, making it the first Italian wine to reach such a prestigious ranking. Being one of the HIGHEST altitude producers of Brunello, the unique combination of unique geographical position of Poggio Antico ,steady breezes, highly privileged position, sunny vineyards facing south to southwest and the calcareous and rocky soil give Poggio Antico wines their special character and elegance. Passion for nature, hard manual work in the vineyards, extremely low yields, modern technology in the cellar and a lot of patience come together to produce the those great wines in Montalicino Poggio Antico: a combination of people, love and passion for wine making in the beautiful landscape of Tuscany. Brunello, Altero, Madre and Rossodi Montalcino are the result of our great care and dedication.
